Information:
Shelly (or Shell ) is a small, lovely cemetery in rural Carroll County that sits atop a hill, surrounded by corn fields. It is situated a mile and a half east of the Village of Shannon. There is no sign, nor an entrance to speak of.
There are approximately 150 graves here. The earliest known burials date back to 1863; the latest being 2006. There are several U.S. Civil War veterans buried here, as well as one local notable: Jacob S. Lashell, who was the first acting village president of Shannon and also opened the first general store there.
