Purpose

A listing of some of the issues found with profiles having parent(s) marked as "confirmed with DNA" where the DNA Confirmation source citation statement(s) have been found to be problematic.^[1]

Issues

1. A DNA Confirmation Statement is missing
   Whenever the parental relationship status indicator on a profile is marked as confirmed with DNA a DNA Confirmation source citation is required. One or more are missing for the parent(s) on this profile. See the Help for DNA Confirmation^[2] for more information. 2. Genealogical Sources are missing
   DNA confirmation is intended to confirm known genealogical relationships. The genealogical sources cited on this profile are inadequate for DNA confirmation. A DNA Confirmation source statement is not considered a genealogical source and is not "proof" of genealogy.^[2]
3. DNA Test Match is between distant cousins
   When a DNA test match is being used for simple 1-to-1 DNA test match confirmation, the relationship between the testers should not be more distant than third cousins (3c, or the equivalents 2c2r and 1c3r).^[4] To use distant cousins for confirmation requires "triangulation".^[5]
4. DNA Test Match is between close cousins
