Signature Quilt
Made by members of the Four Corners Quilter's Guild
Size: approximately 86" wide by 114" long
Members of the Four Corners Quilter's Guild assembled these blocks the year the guild was formed. It was suggested that we make two blocks - one for ourselves, and the other for the guild. It was decided that the group keep these blocks since it was our signature block. Fabric was provided for the guild blocks, and we were asked to sign the 12-inch blocks.
Fifty-one blocks were returned. Three more blocks were made - one with the guild name, and a two-page story about the beginnings of the guild. This gave us a layout of six-blocks wide by eight-blocks long. A two-inch sashing with corner squares separates the blocks and makes a narrow border to finish the quilt.
The large top was quilted on a domestic sewing machine with straight lines a quarter-inch from all seams by Karen Carter and two other members of the guild in 2003. Just in time for the guild's first quilt show.
The back of the quilt has a list of members for the first five years.
