GOVERNMENT NOTICE.

IMMIGRATION.

Superintendent's Office,

4th January 1848.

INFORMATION is hereby given to Parents, who availed themselves of the advantages held out by the Govern-ment Notice of the 26th of May, 1846, and entered applications at the Superin- tendent's Office, for the conveyance to this colony children left behind in Great Britain at the time of their emigration, that information has been received that the ship Sir Edward Parry has been chartered by Her Majesty's Government, for the conveyance of a certain number of these children to Port Phillip, and that her arrival may be looked for without delay.

This preliminary notice is given, in order that parents who may reside at a distance from Melbourne, and who may have reason to expect their children, may be prepared to take early steps for their removal from, town, as soon as possible after the notice of the arrival of the vessel, and of the names of the children on board may be published.
