PS The Adoptees: How to Set Up Your Profile page is a WikiTree help page specifically designed for new members who indicate they are adoptees. It is also helpful for non-adopted members who have adoptees in their family tree. The page includes links to more resources, like our Adoption Angels Project, basic search techniques, information on DNA, etc. I'm not sure that it will directly apply to what you are working on but wanted to make sure you were aware of the help pages.
