Biography
Anne Alexander Beasley was born in 1788 to parents Sally Pomfret and Stephen Beasley. She married Alexander Smith in 1811 in Granville County, North Carolina, and lived on his family plantation (Abram's Plains) until her death in 1872.
Enslaved People Inherited in March 1828
Anne's husband Alexander died on 25 December 1827 without leaving a will. His estate was inventoried on 1 March 1828 and the people he enslaved were divided among Anne and their two daughters Sally Pomfret Smith and Anne Alexander Smith. Anne inherited 16 enslaved people.
