This page's purpose is to record the people enslaved by Annis (Phillips) Baker (1783-1863) and attempt to connect them to their families.
In the 1850 census Annis (Phillips) Baker was enslaving 35 people in Marion, Marion County, South Carolina, ranging in age from two months to 40 years old.[1]
In the 1860 census Annis was enslaving 41 people ranging in age from 1 to 55 years old, in eight slave houses in Marion.[2]
Annis wrote her will in March 1858 and it was probated on 28 September 1863. She bequeathed 43 enslaved people to her children. One in particular was Tinah — Christina L. (Levant) Platt (1842-1943) — who was bequeathed to Annis's son, William J. Baker (1825-1876).

- Note: "In the second clause of my will Abijah is given to the children of James Baker, having sold him, I give and bequeath to the children of my said son James two little boys named E(illegible) and Evander, in lieu of said negro sold upon the same conditions."
- Note: "I give to Travis Foster Brown, that married my daughter Martha C, deceased an old negro woman named Dinnia and it is my desire that the said old negro may be taken care of and well used as long as she lives."
