On January 30, 1837, in Charleston, South Carolina, Bartholomew R. Carroll settled a debt to Doctor Cotesworth Pinckney in the final sum of $2,200 by presenting him with the following slaves:[1]

On June 10, 1839 Bartholomew sold a slave to David Lopez in Charleston, South Carolina.[3]

On January 25, 1841, Bartholomew sold two slaves to Benjamin F. Dunkin in Charleston, South Carolina for the sum of $1,100.[4]

  • Sarah - a mulatto slave about 30 years of age
  • Edward - Sarah's son, about 8 years of age

According to the 1850 U.S. Slave Schedule, Charleston, South Carolina, Bartholomew owned ten slaves:[5]
