Burwell and his wife, Ann, owned two plantations in Camden County, Georgia: Middleton Neck Plantation and Wayside Plantation.[1] It is not yet known on which plantations the following slaves lived or worked.

For in consideration of "natural love, goodwill & affection" for grantee, for slaves Dick, about 65 years-old; Rachel, about 45 years-old; Isaac, about 22 years-old; Maria about 16 years-old; Jana about 14 years-old; Tom, about 12 years-old; Rhoda, about 10 years-old; Ephraim, about 8 years-old; Alex, about 6 years-old; Oscola, about 4 years-old and Caroline about 2 years-old.[7]

- On 10 January 1844, Burwell Atkinson deeded a gift of negro slaves to his wife, Ann Atkinson via her trustee Isaac Lang, grantee. For slaves Dick, Rachel, Isaac, Maria, Jim, Tom, Rhoda, Ned, Ephraim, Osceola, Caroline, Eugene
