Surnames/tags: Banks Slavery
Ralph Banks Sr. (1757-1824) owned 69 slaves at the time of the 1820 federal census, ranging in ages from under 14 years to over 45 years. According to an inventory of his estate (presumably around his death in 1824), he had 58 slaves whose first names (without ages or "color") were listed, some of these named as willed to some of Ralph's wife and children.
Likely there are other records of slaves that Ralph owned, but federal census records for Georgia for 1790 through 1810 were lost, and the 1790 census is missing for Granville County, Alabama.
