He mentions 5 slaves in his Will to be given "to my son Addison Maupin in trust for the use of my daughter Isabella W wife of Tandy K Jones...formerly belonging to the said Tandy K Jones but purchased by me for the use of said daughter Isabella W Jones and left in her charge at the time of purchase." [1]

The 1830 Census[2] shows that he owned 18 slaves:
- 5 males under 10 years of age
- 2 males of 10 and under 24
- 2 males of 24 and under 36
- 2 females under 10 years of age
- 4 females of 10 and under 24
- 3 females of 24 and under 36
The 1840 Census[3] shows that he owned 14 slaves:
- 4 males under 10 years of age
- 4 males of 10 and under 24
- 1 males of 36 and under 55
- 1 females under 10 years of age
- 2 females of 10 and under 24
- 2 females of 36 and under 55
The 1850 Census Slave Schedule[4] shows that he owned 17
The 1860 Census Slave Schedule[5] shows that he owned 14 slaves, and a separate 1860 Slave Schedule[6] entry seems to show two more slaves rented out.
