Background
This page was created to record the enslaved of Charles Cotesworth Pinckney Alston (abt.1796-abt.1881) during his lifetime.
Charles C. P. Alston owned several properties and numerous enslaved persons. Charles also received a plantation full of enslaved persons, called Fairfield, from his father in 1839. These enslaved were unnamed in his father's probate information.[1][2]
Slave Mortgages
21 Mar 1821, Charles C. P. Alston, along with Thomas Pinckney Alston, and William Alston Sr, gave a loan to William Washington and secured by the enslaved. Unknown if the loan was satisfied and Washington retrieved his slaves, or if the Alstons kept the enslaved[3] (list of enslaved needs to be transcribed)
