This page enumerates the slavery history of Charles Hardy Banks (1838-1911)
1854 Will of Lemuel Banks
When Charles's father Lemuel Banks (1806-1854) died in 1854, he left his entire estate to his wife Louisa America (Tait) Meriwether (1811-1896). However, if she were to remarry, the estate was to be split between her and all the children. Louisa remarried in 1857, therefore, Charles would have inherited 1/7th of his father's DeSoto County, Mississippi estate at that time, including slaves. It is unknown if he brought those slaves with him to Arkansas.
