History
Christopher Jenkins (1738-1774) was of Charleston County, South Carolina.[1] He lived on Edisto Island, Charleston County, and grew up on his family's property called Peter's Point Plantation. This property was most likely inherited when his father, Christopher Jenkins (1716-1760) died. And like his father, Christopher Jenkins was a planter. Peter's Point Plantation grew "Sea Island Cotton" and was worked by the large number of slaves that he and his family owned.

When Christopher Jenkins died in 1774 a list of 139 slaves were noted in his probate papers.[2][3]
