This is a page documenting the slaves of Christopher Smith of Louisa County, Virginia.

Christopher Smith was a plantation owner in Louisa County, Virginia. His father, Charles Smith, was a very successful merchant in Hanover County, and Christopher leveraged his inheritance to build a large plantation.

At the time of his death, he owned 95 slaves, including children.

In his will, probated in 1804, he manumitted one slave family.[1] Their names were Betty Kinny, her son Billy, and her daughter Sally, who had four children, Louisa, John, David, Amelia, and Sam. Two other children of Betty's (Marcia Smith Overton and John Willis) were manumitted by their owner in 1806.[2]

The names of his slaves were listed in the inventory of his estate along with their assigned values. [3]
