Slaves in Deed Records

On 06 May 1844, Crawford Parish, grantor, of Camden County, Georgia sold to David Bailey, grantee, of Camden County, Georgia, for $700.00 the slave Aaron, about 30 years-old (a "slave for life").[4]

On 25 April 1846, Mary Bunkley, grantor, of Camden County, Georgia, sold to David Bailey, grantee, for $250.00 for slave Chancy, about 7 years-old (female).[5]

On 13 April 1847, William James Hardee, via George W. Hardee, his agent, grantor, sold to David Bailey, grantee, of Camden County, Georgia, for $1,300.00 for slaves Sally, about 31 years-old; Sarah, about 13 years-old; Jim, about 11 years-old; Margaret, about 7 years-old; and Lewis, about 5 months-old.[6]

On 01 June 1858, David Bailey & William Bailey & Alonzo B Dufour, grantor, of Camden County, Georgia to Thomas B. Neill, guardian for heirs of Henry Bailey, grantee, for $7,425.00 for slaves: Frederick, Jim, Aaron, Daniel, Maria, Louisa, Amy, Sally, Milly, Nancy, Hagar, Lizzy, Addison, Lucy, Romulus, Providence, Stephen, Clementine, Ben, Harry, Peggy, Cyrus, Lena and Cyrus (2).[7]

On 30 March 1861, Henry H. Floyd, grantor, of Camden County, Georgia, sold to David Bailey, grantee, for $10.00 security on note, for slaves Will, 22 years-old; George, 16 years-old; Ned, 26 years-old; Sally, 16 years-old.[8]
