This page was created to record the enslaved of Dr. Edward T. Heriot during his life and at his death.
Dr. Heriot owned Dirleton Plantation in Georgetown County, South Carolina. After his death the plantation, given to his son Robert Stark Heriot, however it was then acquired by his daughter Mary and her husband Dr. James Ritchie Sparkman. In Sparkman's plantation journal, which is dated 1859, he lists the names of about 165 enslaved persons that had belonged to the estate of Dr. Edward T. Heriot, who were still on the plantation.[1][2] (divided into families on the list)
