This page is for collecting sources and information for the purpose of identifying the slaves of James Hays Piper (1800-1854) of Wythe County, Virginia. After his death, James's widow Frances married John Montgomery McTeer (abt.1824-1892). It appears that many of the enslaved persons were transferred to him through their marriage.
