In 1840 James Parker was enslaving 14 people in Carroll County, Mississippi.[1]
In 1850 he was enslaving 33 people ranging in age from one month to 60 years old, in the northern division of Carroll County.[2]
In August 1859, James died in Carroll County without leaving a will. On 19 December 1860, the people he had enslaved were legally divided among his wife Parthenia and their three surviving children, Adelia (Parker) Peeples, John Y Parker, and Mary A Parker:[3]
