A suit was brought by heirs for a division of the land and slaves.The court ordered that after the allotment of a dower, the remaining slaves were to be divided among the five heirs.[4]

On December 31, 1863, the commissioners met at the home of Mary A Sander and divided the slaves as follows:

Found a transcription of commissioner's division of slaves on Ancestry, but have not found original source in the Taylor County documents.
