This page is intended to assist decendants of persons enslaved by James Sewell with finding their ancestors. (Currently which James Sewell is connected to this probate has not been proven). (20 Mar 2023) James Sewell on the 1850 slave schedule who held 14 people in Meriweather, Georgia, is very likely the same person in this probate inventory, which in 1859 he held 18 people. James Barns is on that schedule just above James Sewell, as he is in this 1850 Census:

James (age 66), Farmer, was in Division 59, Meriwether, Georgia, United States.[1]
