- 1850 Columbus had a total of ten people listed on the slave schedules. Five of those were female.[1]

- 1855 Columbus had 11 white people and 16 'slaves' on his farm in Perry County[2] This was a state census and did not break them down into age groups.
- 1860: The only Cosbys that were indexed for the 1860 slave schedule in Alabama were for Andy Cosby in Perryville, George W. Cosby in Perryville, James R. Cosby in Pinetucky, Perry, William J. Cosby in Madison, A.Y. Cosby in Pike County, and James E. Cosby in Tallapoosa County, Alabama. (Ancestry Images)
