This page's purpose is to record the people enslaved by James Webb and attempt to connect them to their families.
In the 1820 census[1] James and his wife Ann Hunt (Smith) Webb were living in Person County, North Carolina, and enslaving 17 people:
- Male - To age 14 = 1
- Male - To age 26 = 6
- Male - To age 45 = 1
- Female - To age 14 = 3
- Female - To age 26 = 4
- Female - To age 45 = 1
- Female - Age 45 and up = 1
In August 1827 James died. His will listed two enslaved people and three unnamed children.[2]

In September 1827 the estate inventory of James Webb[3] [4] named 32 enslaved people. Two different copies of the estate inventory were recorded, with minor spelling variations that are included below.
A document dated 20 June 1832 in the estate records of James Webb notes the receipt of $400 for "the sale of a negro man David which I receive as a negro man left to me by my Father in his last will and Testament" by James Lewis Webb.[5]

An undated document in the estate records of James Webb notes the receipt of three enslaved people by John P Blackwell, husband of Mary Ann Amy (Webb) Blackwell.[6]

A document dated 27 February 1833 in the estate records of James Webb notes a "Legacy of Lucy and her two Children (Edmund and Marthy Ann)" inherited by Alexander Smith Webb and John Pomfret Webb. [7]

A document dated 5 September 1834 in the estate records of James Webb notes the receipt of "a negro boy Josua" by William Henry Webb.[8]
