Introduction

Col. John Carter, aka John Carter (abt.1613-1670) was born into an English family with commercial and kinship connections to members of the Virginia Company of London. He was the original owner of Corotoman Plantation, built in 1653.

John died on January 10, 1670 at Corotoman Plantation, Lancaster County, Virginia. He was buried inside the Christ Church.
