In 1825 Mrs Harriet Williams, mother of Harriet Eliza, sold slaves to John Harry for $10.00. She indicated the slaves were previously a gift to her daughter, probably at the time of her marriage to John in 1823.

In May of 1862, John Harry petitioned for compensation for 27 slaves he had released. Unfortunately, the documents included are not complete. The following slaves are named.

- Grace was obtained as a young girl as a gift from Mrs Martha Clagett (mother of his first wife) and resided with the family until about 3, 4 years ago. Her children were born in the John Harry household
