Research Notes
- John deeded his slaves and personal property to his children in 1831 and then rented them back at one dollar per annum in the first deed and fifty cents per annum in the second deed.
- No other slaves are mentioned in his will which was produced in court in August 1850. At the death of his wife Martha was to return to his estate.
