Research Notes
- In the 1840 census, John's wife Hannah was head of household and enslaving 11 people.[2]
- I was unable to find the Lemon family in the 1850 census for Fayette County.
- In the 1860 census, Hannah was 77 years old and living in the household of her daughter Sally, who was married to William Maris.[3]
- I was unable to find Hannah as an owner in the 1860 slave schedule, but William Maris was enslaving 35 people in 8 slave houses.[4]
