Background
John Peter Richardson lived in the Sumter District of Clarendon County, South Carolina, which later became Sumter County.
1811 Will
- John Richardson's will named eight enslaved people to be given to his wife Floride Bonneau (Peyre) Richardson:[1]

- John Richardson's will also gave "my servant man Bob" to his son John Peter Richardson II:
- I give and bequeath to my beloved son John Peter Richardson when he attains the age of twenty-one years, my servant man Bob; and do desire that he shall at all times be treated kindly by him for his steadfast and faithfull service to me and all my family; and if he should die under that age, I then give him to my son James B Richardson when he arrives to the age of twenty-one years, to be treated by him in like manner; And I do enjoin and require of my Executors and of them, that he shall never be put to any hard labor, but remain on the manor plantation as a servant and attendant on my family.
