Background

This profile is part of the Edisto Island, South Carolina One Place Study.

This page is to list the enslaved owned by Louisa Seabrook, daughter of Ephraim Mikell Seabrook, through her life, to help the descendants of the enslaved find their families and connect to their ancestors. It is unknown which plantations they lived on.

In 1850 there was a court record about Ephraim Mikell Seabrook's estate. This record showed that the enslaved were put in "lots" and the family selected by draw which lot each would receive. Louisa chose Lot 1 in the drawing.[1]

The "O." most likely notes that the person was old.
