Slaves of Nathan Atkinson (1758-1817), Camden County, Georgia
Plantations
Nathan built Bourbon Plantation sometime in the 1790s in Camden County. Sometime after 1800, he sold it to his father, John Atkinson, and his wife, Catherine (Ferrell).Plantations & Homes of Camden County
Nathan also owned Black Hammock Plantation, a 700 acre property in Camden County, Georgia. He passed his Black Hammock plantation on to his son, Alexander Atkinson (1796-1840), including 21 slaves, when he died in 1817. Other property and slaves were given to his wife, Sarah Letitia (Stevens) Atkinson (1774-1817), and other children. All the slaves were to remain on Black Hammond Plantation until the crops were harvested.[1]
Slaves Bequeathed to Son, Alexander Atkinson (1796-1840)
Slaves bequeathed to Alexander in Nathan Atkinson's will in 1817. However, Nathan's wife Sarah was to have the "labor and benefit" of Jim, Cloe, Pen and Jack until her death, and were not to be removed from the plantation. Sarah died on 20 Dec 1817:[1]

Nathan bequeathed 25 slaves (along with a feather bed and furniture) to his son, John Atkinson, upon his death in 1817:

Slaves Bequeathed to Son, Edmund Atkinson (1804-1862)
Nathan bequeathed 20 slaves to his son, Edmund Atkinson, as well as 300 acres of land, upon his death in 1817. However, Edmund was not to receive the slaves until 1 Jan 1818. He also had to earn a "first degree" college education and to study law, before receiving the slaves:

Slaves Bequeathed to Daughter, Nancy Ann (Atkinson) Lang (1799-abt.1876)
Nathan bequeathed 25 slaves (along with a feather bed and furniture) to his daughter, Nancy Atkinson, upon his death in 1817 He reserved the right for his wife, Sarah, until her death, to have the "use and labor" of Cynth. Sarah died 20 Dec 1817. He also stated that Nancy receive the slaves on 1 Jan 1818, or if she married before that time, the first day of January following her marriage :
