Research Notes
- Be careful with mergiing slaves. Since Nathaniel was sometimes giving away more than one person with the same name in the same document, it would be a mistake to merge these individuals.
The following assumptions were made:
- Place of Birth for each slave was the location where the Will was signed: Halifax County, Virginia
- The birth dates of children listed are recorded as before the date of the signing of the Will: 21 Jul 1789.
- To account for the difference between adults and children, the birth dates of adults are recorded as before 15 years before the signing of the Will, thus 21 Jul 1774.
