Probate
When Peter Gaillard died in 1843 he owned approximately 225 slaves. These enslaved persons were named and valued in his probate inventory.[2] They lived and worked on Heyden Hill Plantation.
Peter's probate papers list the 225 enslaved in lots, each lot appears to be a family.[3]
