p. 179 The following enslaved persons were to attend to the granddaughters and take care of the house and premises at the 35 Queen Street residence in Charleston:
- my old servant Chloe, Phoebe, Diana, Maria wife of Tom, old Betty, and my faithful servants Tom and Sandy, who must be furnished with food and raiment as they have been accustom to, at the expense of the estate."
p.180 "But as the above mentioned negroes have been ever faithful and on that account my friends it is my earnest wish and desire that all of them be particularly attended to by all of my family and not on any account sent into the country without their free will and consent first obtained."
p.183 "First my Servant Elias has conducted himself so well towards me, attending cheerfully on all my wants and indeed forestalling my wishes as far as Lay in his power that in Consideration of his fidelity and as an encouragement to others to imitate his example I give and bequeath to the said Elias an annuity of thirty Dollars yearly and every year for and during his natural Life to be paid to him quarterly from the funds of my Estate."
p.184 "Item my Servant [Williams-62669|Lydia] a Coloured Woman with the greatest of care and tenderness waited upon me day and night during my severe illness about two years ago, and has ever since with unwearied diligence devoted herself to my comfort attending to all my wants and infirmities in Consideration therefore of her faithful Services I will and direct that she be permitted to act for herself in Such a way as she may think will promote her own well being on her paying to my estate the sum of Twenty Dollars yearly and without her being in any other way answerable to my estate during her natural life and I give and bequeath to the said Woman Lydia an annuity of Sixty Dollard yearly & every year from the time of my death and for and during her natural Life payable to her by equal quarterly payments from the funds of my estate and it shall be at the option of my Executors to retain annually from the annuity hereby Left to her, and the said Sum of Twenty Dollars which she is required to pay annually to my Estate, and I hereby recommend the said two Servants Elias and Lydia to the care and protection of my Executors and direct that during their respective Lives they remain an undivided part of my estate."
p.184 "Lastly in consideration of the good conduct and faithful Valuable services of my Mulatto man Toney by Trade a Millwright I have for some years past given him to himself one half of his time say from the middle of May to the middle of November every year. It is my will and desire and I so direct that the same indulgence be given to him for six years from the time of my death during which time he may instruct other Servants in his profession to Supply his place and at the expiration of the term of Six years from the time of my death I will and direct that his whole time be given to him. I recommend the said Toney also to the care and protection of my Executors and Should the Laws of this State at any time hereafter permit I will and direct that the said Elias and Lydia at any time and the said Toney after the expiration of the said six years be emancipated and set free or allowed to depart from this State as they may respectively think proper and from the time that the said Lydia is emancipated or departs from this State then her annuity for her life from my estate shall be reduced to forty Dollars payable quarterly as aforesaid." (it has been said that Toney was actually Weston's son)
p. 178 The will called for two of Weston's sons to divide the remainder of the enslaved, one receiving all from one plantation, and one receiving all from the other plantation:

Properties
Plowden Weston owned multiple plantations at his death. For a complete list please see the Property of Plowden Weston page.
- Laurel Hill Plantation, in the neighborhood of Waccamaw in Georgetown County, swampland and settlements on both sides of the river, purchased of Gabriel Marion, Mr. Goddard, and John Lefsesne, bequeathed to son Francis Marion Weston (Laurel Hill is now part of Brookgreen Gardens)

Weston kept a journal for his plantation. In it, he lists supplies distributed to the enslaved people, along with their names.[4]

Slaves Hired Out
During the Revolutionary War Plowden Weston hired out some of his slaves.
- 6 were hired in 1779, for 192 days, to work on fortifications, for which Weston was paid 30 Jul 1785, £13.14.3[5]

Emancipated Slaves
15 Oct 1806 Plowden Weston, as executor of the late James Simpson of Christ Church Parish, was to emancipate a Mulatto boy in 3 months or less from this date for $950:[14]
- Lewis, son of the aforesaid James Simpson, will be bound as an apprentice to a trade

The 1820 census now gives ages to the enslaved. This census is interesting as Plowden Weston also had Free Persons of Color living with him at his Charleston County Location:[21]
