History

Richard Croom (1805-1859) married Winnie Whitfield, daughter of Gen. Bryan Whitfield. They lived for awhile at Tower Hill in North Carolina, then moved to Sumter, Alabama. Richard also had land holdings in Leon County, Florida, namely Oakland Plantation.[1]
