In the 1810 census, Richard Stanford was living in Hillsborough, Orange County, and enslaving 13 people.[1]
Richard Stanford wrote his will on 25 December 1812 and named three enslaved people with unnamed children:[2]
- Stephen, given to Richard's wife Mary (Moore) Stanford
- Phillis and her children, given to "My two oldest daughters, Ariana and Mary Mebane"
- Jonathan, given to oldest daughter Ariana
