Slaves of Richard W. Sanders (b 1825), Wythe County, Virginia

The purpose of this page is to collect information to help identify the slaves owned by Richard Walton Sanders (1826-1905) of Wythe County. He was a physician, and not listed as a slave owner on the 1850 slave schedule. He married in November 1851 to Elizabeth McGhee in Bedford County, and its possible that he acquired slaves as part of dowry or wedding gifts.
