This page's purpose is to record the people enslaved by Robert Clark Webb and attempt to connect them to their families.

A document dated 25 February 1840 in the estate records of Robert's father James Webb notes the gift of "a negro girl by the name of Julia Ann" from Ann Hunt (Smith) Webb to her son Robert Clark Webb.[1]

On 13 October 1840, the estate division of Robert's mother Ann Hunt (Smith) Webb named 28 enslaved people, some of whom were previously enslaved by Robert's deceased father James Webb. Robert inherited three people.[2]

In the 1850 census for Lafayette County, Mississippi, Robert was enslaving eight people.[3]

Research Notes

Several of the above people held in trust may have been inherited from the estate of Maurice's father John Pomfret Webb who died on 28 May 1846 when Maurice was five years old. In September 1846, Maurice inherited five enslaved people:[5][6]
