1839 Will

In his will dated 25 Jun 1839 in Greene County, Alabama (the area he lived in is now a part of Hale County), Robert Graves named 10 enslaved people:[1]

To his oldest son Thomas Graves:

  1. Ned aged about 12
  2. Jefferson "Jeff" aged about 18

To his son John Graves:

  1. Gabriel "Gabe" aged about 27
  2. Solomon aged about 9

To his daughter Mary Ann:

  1. Lucinda aged about 16
  2. Rebecca "Becky" aged about 23
  3. Lucy aged about 34
  4. Elizabeth aged about 6 months

To his daughter Sarah Glenn:

  1. Ritty aged 26
  2. Samuel “Sam” aged about 15

1840 Census

A division was made in January 1846.[2]

To Thomas Fant in right of his wife Mary Ann:

  1. Lucy

(The last 4 being the increase of Rebecca and Lucinda since the death of Robert Graves).
