Census
In the 1820 census Robert was in Montgomery, Georgia, United States, with 66 slaves. His surname was misspelled as Tromp on the census.[1]
In the 1830 census Robert was in Montgomery, Georgia. He owned 27 slaves. His surname was again misspelled as Tromp on the census.[2]
By 1840, he appeared to no longer own slaves. His surname was misspelled as Tranp on the census.[3]
Will
His will, names one slave, Matilda, a 15 year old. He commented that she was brought up in the family, so may have been his child. He bequeathed her to Miss Sarah E Williams..."as a small token of my regard, Esteem and respect for her."[4]
Probate Inventory
Robert left his estate to be divided between his brother, George M Troup Sr, and his nephew, George M Troup Jr, who was at the time a declared lunatic. The Inventory, 21 Sep 1848.[5]and Division[6] of slaves.
On the Inventory there is a name that looks like 'Sriash', on the division document all the names match except this name and Patty so assumption is that these are the same person, however, the values assigned are also different. There is also a difference in the value of Polly between the inventory ($100) and the division ($1)
