Stephen Moore was born in 1734 in what would become the state of New York.
In 1749, Stephen Moore inherited three enslaved people — Anthony, Cumberland, and Violett — from his father John Moore.[1]
In 1778, he established the "Mount Tirzah" plantation in Caswell County, North Carolina. In 1792, Person County was created from Caswell County and the Mount Tirzah plantation changed its county without moving.
Stephen Moore died in 1799 in Person County and his estate records listed the following enslaved people:[2][3][4]
