Theodore Gaillard Sr. died in 1781 most likely at his Wambaw Plantation located at St. James Santee, which was in what is now Berkeley and Charleston Counties, South Carolina. Gaillard's will was written 16 Mar 1781, proven 7 Jul 1781. In his will he bequeathed to his wife 6 of the enslaved.[1]

Theodore Gaillard, in his will, gives Frank his freedom[1]
Theodore Gaillard specifically states in his will that the Negroes his son Peter will take (of his brother David's estate at St. Stephens) "are not to be parted from their father or mother under fourteen years".[1]
In 1784 these 55 enslaved persons were listed on the probate inventory of Theodore Gaillard's estate at St. James Parish.[2]
