Geographical Notes
Without ever moving, Chambers resided in the boundaries of the following counties:
- Anderson County c. 1810–1817
- Campbell County 1817–1849: Thomas Chambers and other residents around New River petitioned the state legislature in 1815 that the area should be added to Campbell County. To conduct legal business, residents of New River had to travel through the Campbell County seat of Jacksboro, and then another twenty miles to reach the Anderson County seat in Clinton. Their petition was granted in 1817.
- Scott County was formed in 1849. Chambers therefore became a resident of Scott County, remaining on the same land through the period of emancipation until his death in 1871.
