William, born in Georgia, moved to Leon County, Florida, where he married Rachel Theus in 1848. He was listed in the 1850 and 1860 Slave Schedule Census records in Leon County. It is not yet known what his plantation was called. The property included 980 acres worth $5000 in 1860. Five hundred of the acreage was improved and grew corn and cotton.[1]
