1863 Deed

On April 28, 1863, a deed was filed in court identifying distribution of ten slaves owned by William as equal 1/5 shares to his four children and the children of his deceased daughter. Ownership was conveyed for the sum of one dollar. The deed notes that William retained a portion of the life lease for his own use.[5] The distribution was completed in November, 1863.[6]

1865 Estate Settlement

In November 1865, William T Boyle, administrator, submitted the following as part of the Estate.[7]
    • 1859 hire of negro Ellen to J W Brown $50
    • 1860 hire of negro Mary to Givens $50
    • 1859 hire of negro Hager to Holcomb $50
    • 1860 hire of negroes Ben, Hager & Amandy $200
