William Chandler Banks (1821-1877) in 1826 inherited four slaves from his father James Alston Banks (abt.1800-aft.1822).
William was only four years old at that time. A drawing was held between him and his mother Mildred Tait Oliver (1805-1856) "Milly" for eight slaves left behind by his father. [1][2]
Four of these slaves were inherited by William.
