Possible Former Slaves
Following the Civil War, William Maddox entered numerous employment contracts with freedmen that were registered with the Freedmen's Bureau. It is unknown if these people were former slaves of Maddox or just took the opportunity of employment. However, some do use the surname Maddox.

I may be incorrect about all the Squire men. I cannot determine who is who, with the same name perhaps? I do think Squire Shaw may be related to Squire Holland, who was 3 years old in 1857 with he was bequeathed. But then may have been taken to the Norris Family? I would love help to sort this out.
