In his will William designated the following slaves in his will which was probated in September 1852.[1]

To his wife, Lucretia, for use during her life:

Ned and his wife, Jenny
their nine children: Phillips (age 22), Martha (age 20), Ned (age 18), Silva (age 13, girl), Genge (age 11, boy), Henry (age 9), Mary (age 4), and Elsy (age 2)

To his minor son, Thomas:

Hannah (age 14) and her increase
