1840 Identified Slaves

The table below can be found on the 1840 probate inventory which was taken just before the distribution of the estate. There are a few older slaves and infants that appear on this inventory who were not on the initial 1837 inventory. The lists seem to organized by family group with a woman followed by her children. For instance we know Charlotte to be the child of Fanny. Below Fanny on the list are nine children in descending order with Charlotte at the end.

The initial table posted here came from a transcript. In comparing to the original image I found a few mistakes which I have fixed. I used the 1840 inventory for the base instead of the 1837 as there seem to be older slaves missing from the 1837 inventory and there were also a number of children born between those year making the 1840 list the more complete list. I have listed names in the order of the 1840 inventory as they seemed to be in family groups.
