As a One Name Study, this project is not limited to persons who are related biologically. Individual studies can be used to branch out the research into specific methods and areas of interest, such as geographically (England Snook's), by time period (18th Century Snook's), or by topic (Snook DNA, Snook Occupations, Snook Statistics). These studies may also include a number of family branches which have no immediate link with each other. Some researchers may even be motivated to go beyond the profile identification and research stage to compile fully sourced, single-family histories of some of the families they discover through this name study project.

Origin of this family name
This is indeed a subject of conjecture for example a) There is a record of "A Thomas de Estoke and Elizabeth his wife, querents, and William de Estoke de Berneston and Alice his wife, deforciants, of nine messuages, one mill, one hundred and forty -eight acres of land, four acres of meadow and two shillings of rent in Magna Crauford, Parva Crauford [Tarrant Crawford] and Speghtebury [Spetisbury]. Plea of covenant was summened. Thomas acknowledged the tenements to be right of William. Of which William and Alice have 6 mesuages, the mill, 139 acres of land and 3.5 acres of meadow by gift of Thomas." [1] b) There is a hamlet in Wiltshire which was called Nooke; for example the Tisbury Church marriage records inform Obdiah Flower and Elizabeth young both of Nooke, Wiltshire were married 14 August 1746. This hamlet could be toponymic place for our family name. https://www.ancestry.co.uk/family-tree/person/tree/105740548/person/142593190348/hints
Modern Geographic Distribution
Since Snook and its variant spellings have primarily English roots though some stem from Holland, it's not surprising that initial research indicates the 17 centuary records inform the name was distributed thoughout Wessex in England The table figures below comprises Figures for variant spellings which are not available and are not all under research.
