Thank you. I've added the link.

The published Vital Records of Beverly ... make reference to "PR. 1" which is "Record of deaths made by Col. Robert Hale, and formerly in the possession of James Hill, town clerk" (see p. 4).

Hale's record of deaths was published in 1863 as a series in Essex Institute Historical Collections. See "A list of deaths in Beverly made by Col. Robert Hale" in Essex Institute Historical Collection, 5 (1863):16-24, 94-96, 143-144, 231-235; digital images, HathiTrust.

Thank you for this information. I posted the links in the above list under "Beverly" and I posted it on the page for the Vital Records of Beverly under a new section called "Sources Cited".

I collected as many of the articles he wrote for the different series, ".... in 1700" and posted all to a free space page--Perley's in 1700 series.

Believe there are 66 articles. I anyone spots more, lemme know --GeneJ

Edited to add: I was in hunt of an article loosely referenced in the answer to a 20th century query. (I never did find the article.)

That is Vol. 9 of the "Boston Records Commissioners Reports". The Free-Space page for that source is here: https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Space:Boston_Records_Commissioners_Reports

Hi Rick,

Seems. Ipswich, Massachusetts (the town) has also put the town records on their site as "Town Records: 1600-1916"; each link/title opens a downloadable PDF .

See https://www.ipswichma.gov/773/Town-Records-1600---1916

Rick, If it's OK, I'd like to add "Vital Records of Taunton" since they're now accessible free at AmericanAncestors as well as at The MA Vital Record Project. Likewise, "Town Records - Dighton, Mass." also at AmericanAncestors.

Edit: I know that AmericanAncestors has their own citation format. Not sure if that poses an issue for us. Chip.

I don't think this is an issue. There are many different types of formats used, but I don't usually follow examples given on web sites. They don't include WikiTree syntax and they tend to emphasize the web site over the printed edition. Web sites change and printed editions do not, so I generally cite the printed edition with a link to the online version, when available.

Please add sources with whatever format you like, with information about all possible locations where a user can find the source, printed or web site.

Wow - great resource! Thank you for compiling it!

Heather, I've added it to the top of this page. If you have more information, please add it to the page for The Essex Genealogist.

If you want to add a Massachusetts Genealogy Journals section, there is The Essex Genealogist; published quarterly, 1981-present. It's available in print, but also is indexed on AmericanAncestors.org.

Susan, Thanks. Something is wrong with the WikiTree Free-Space merge at the moment. I will try again and hopefully get it fixed soon.

Hi Rick

Under Essex County, there appear to be two entries for the same title, Vital Records of Andover...

Rick,

My sources point to the actual book, usually on archive.org, making them external links. should I put them under External Links or the county? Bob

Bob,

Yes, please add sources to this page. I may make format changes, but every new source is appreciated. Most of the links on this page point to a Free Space page with more information. Other types of links belong below: = External Links = Thanks, Rick

Rick, I'm the Coordinator for Massachusetts in the US Hisory Project and a Sourcerer. I have a great number of Mass. sources, some of which aren't on your list. Do you mind if I periodically add sources to your list? There is no point in me adding a Free-Space page and duplicating your work.
